Establishment
P.C.Jabin science college, Hubli has been established as a single faculty science institution in 1957 by K.L.E. Society, Belgaum to impart need based education to the students of North Karnataka. The Department of Chemistry has been established in the same year.
Infrastructure
The department has three well equipped laboratories, a research laboratory, and department library and computer room for U.G. students.
Introduction of P.G. Course
M.Sc. in Chemistry course has begun from 2010-11 to cater to the need of students to go for higher education. It is housed in the new P.G. Block. There are three well equipped laboratories, a research laboratory and two lecture halls equipped with Interactive Boards to facilitate I.C.T. based Teaching & Learning.

There are thirteen dedicated and experienced staff including three Ph.D. holders to teach chemistry for B.Sc. students and six qualified staff for M.Sc. Students, all being Ph. D holders.

Study Tours/Industrial Visits
The Department arranges Annual study Tour /Industrial visit to various chemical industries like
paper & pulp, sugar, fertilizers, inorganic chemicals etc to make students get firsthand
information regarding industrial production of chemicals
Extension Activities
Members of the staff conducted student training programmes during 2010-11&2011-12 for popularization the basic science subjects among rural High school students of Dharwad district villages through demonstration of various Chemistry experiments.
Celebration of I.Y.C.-2011 (International Year of Chemistry-2011)
With U.G.C. assistance of 1lakh, the college conducted various activates on the topic “Chemistry –Our life, Our future” to popularise chemistry among all sections of the society.
- Guest lecturer by Prof. M.R.Nagaraju, Retd. Professor, Govt College, Bangalore,
and Prof. K.A.Bulbule, Associate Prof of chemistry, S.Nijalingappa College Bangalore, were
arranged on recent topics.

State level one day seminar was conducted for the college students through power point
Presentation.

National level chemistry Quiz competition was conducted for college students.

Under joint auspices of V.G.S.T., one day programme was organized to popularize basic
science among high school students through demonstrative experiments.
Seminars/Projects
Projects and Seminars are the compulsory part of curriculum to promote courage and confidence
among the students.
